The 1st Annual Guys & Gals Ice Melter wrapped up at the Prince Albert Golf & Curling Club on Saturday, March 28th. This new event replaced the traditional Men's & Ladies Open bonspiels. The event was first thought of to create something that would end the season in a fun way and to focus on the fun aspect of the game the most. All curlers were treated to a Friday evening munchie and social night and a supper on Saturday evening. Each curler also recieved a $25.00 gift card from a local restaraunt in our city. It did not matter who one, or what place you finished in as every team recieved the same prize. From all counts, every curler really seemed to enjoy themselves and had a great time. The bonspiel started a new tradition, each player was asked to vote on the MOST FUN TEAM throughout the event. This was the big award of the weekend and will contiunue year after year. The reward for this was that each team will got their name on a trophy that will stay at the club as well as each team got sent off on Saturday evening to SHUT THE PLANT OFF for the year. This will be done each year from know on. A big thank you has to go out to the committee members of the bonspiel. Jackie Packet, Brian Martin, Lorraine Farrish, and Angus Hemsworth. Also, A huge thank you to all our sponsors, A & W, Amy's on Second, Humpty's, Zorbas, Dairy Queen, Quzinos Sub, P.A. Inn, P.A. CO-OP, Wrapper Jacks, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Johnny Boys, and Lonewolf Catering. We look forward to next year and the 2nd annual event!!!! Here are the pictures of the most fun teams shutting off the ice plant for the year. Men's Team = From left to right, Brady Gill, Wayne Gill, Bob Gill, and Cliff McBeath
Women's Team = From left to right, Nicole Lejan, Sarah Laczko, Jackie Laczko, and Diana Lejan |
