SENIOR NORTHERN AND MEN'S NORTHERN TAKING ENTRIES

The 2008 edition's of the Senior Men's Northern and the Men's Northern are now taking entries. These two annual events are the biggest events that the Cooke Municipal Golf Course host during the year.

First up is the Senior Men's Northern. This years tournament takes place on July 16th & 17th. The tournament is a 36 hole medal play event. There is a banquet for all players and great prizes for the top finishers in each category. The entry fee for the tournament is $45 for Senior Men's Club Members and $75 for non - members. Phone Bob Hemsworth at 763 - 3570 to enter.

The Men's Northern is scheduled for August 2nd - 4th. This tournament has been going on for a very long time and is one of the most reconized amateur match play golf tournaments in Saskatchewan and Western Canada. The tournament kicks off on Friday August 1st with a beer & smokie night social as well as a wildcard live auction on all players. Saturday is the qualifying round where all competitors are then placed in flights. There are two options for players:

Option A = Qualifying round on Saturday, 2 matches Sunday & Monday

Option B = Qualifying round on Saturday, 1 match Sunday & Monday

On Saturday evening there is a Banuet & Putting contest for all entries. Sunday evening is a beef on a bun for all players. After all the competition is done on Monday there is the prize presentation. Great  Prizes!!!

Entry fee for the Northern is $115 for Men's Club Members & $135 for non - members. You can enter at the pro shop by phoning 763 - 2502 or online at www.cookegolf.com

NEW DRINK PRICES IN LOUNGE

The Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club and Mandolin's Restaraunt have lowered the drink prices on bottled beer and highballs. The new price for everybody is $3.75. Stop by and enjoy a cold beverage while watching the new HD TV's or on the deck overlooking a beautifiul view.
 
CLUB PURCHASES NEW HIGH DEF TV'S

The Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club has enhanced the look of the lounge with the purchase of 5 new high def TV's. These TV's have been installed and look much better than the older TV's that were in the lounge. This will enhance the viewing of all sporting events and will increase the atmosphere in the lounge.

Bring your friends and co-workers and check out the new TV's and enjoy a cold bevergae and some munchies while watching your favorite sport.

These TV's were purchased with funds from the 2008 Canadian Senior Curling Championships.

PRINCE ALBERT GOLFERS FAIR WELL AT 2008 MEN'S LOBSTICK

The 2008 edition of the Men's Lobstick wrapped up on Saturday June 14th at the Waskesiu Golf Course. The tournament had 254 entries with 52 playing out of Prince Albert. The tournament uses the match play format.

The tournament has two parts to it. The main tournament along with the Open portion. The open is open to amateurs as well as Proffesionals. The open is a two day stroke play event. Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club member Martin Ring was the top Prince Albert player with a two round total of 144, good for a tie for 6th. Last years open champion Ashley Ziegeman of Edmonton, formerley Prince Albert finished at 152.

As for the Lobstick tournament, Prince Albert saw 5 players make the Championship Flight. Scott Jenkins, John Thorpe, Ashley Ziegeman, Frank Harris and last years champion Martin Ring all quallified. All five players lost their first or second match and out of contention for the championship. On the consolation side, Ashley Ziegeman defeated Shaun Dunphy to take the Molson trophy which goes to the Championship flight consolation winner. Congratulations to Ashley.

ANNUAL LADIES NORTHERN WRAPS UP SUNDAY

The 2008 edition of the Annual Ladies Northern Golf Tournament wrapped up on Sunday. This years event had 70 entries, another great showing. The tournament is a 36 hole medal play with a Social night on Friday as well as a Banquet / supper on Saturday followed by a horserace in the evening!! The tournament once again was very well run and all the ladies really enjoyed themselves. Congratulations to Jackie Packet and all of her team for another successful tournament. Great Job!!!!

Kathy Ziglo took home the championship with a two round total of 160. Finishing in second place was former Cooke Municipal Golf Course worker Kim Brown who had a two round total of 164 and finishing in third place in the Championship Flight was Ann Kirkland with a two round total of 167. Here are the results for all flights after Sunday. Great Job to all who played and we look forward to next year's event!!!

PRINCE ALBERT MEMBERS PLAY IN RBC TOURNAMENT IN NIPAWIN

Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club Members compete in the RBC Open golf tournament in Nipawin. The guys finished out of the top ten but represented our club very well. Winning the tournament was Dean Brown with a 138 2 round total, 6 under par. Colin Coben, who plays in all major events in Prince Albert and who is well know at the club finished for a tie for 5th place with Shawn Streleau, who also plays in all major events at the club. Their two round totals were 147. Playing from our club was Cam Bergen, Gord Brown, Jeff Stefanski, and Dave Cantin. Here are their two round totals:

Cam Bergen - 78 - 77 - 155

Gord Brown - 79 - 86 - 165

Jeff Stefanski - 81 - 85 - 166

Dave Cantin - 88 - 81 - 169

PAGCC MEMBERS FAIR WELL AT SENIOR LOBSTICK

The 2008 edition of the Senior Lobstick at the Waskesiu golf course wrapped up on Thursday May 28th. The Prince Albert Golf and Curling club was well represented and 4 members finished in the prizes. Here are their results:
