The 2009 Econo Lumber Super League playoffs wrapped up on Thursday, March 19th at the Prince Albert Golf & Curling Club. For a second straight year team Bobby Costain took the title defeating team Pete Rieben in the final. In the semi finals team Costain defeated team Reynolds and team Rieben defeated team Goertz. Team Costain is made up of Skip = Bobby Costain / Wayne Ringdahl, Third = Fred Mathiason, Second = Bill Forsyth, Lead = Grant Dennis. On the B side, Team Ian Mayoh defeated team Bob Gill to take the consolation side. Congratulations to team Costain for his second straight title. As well a huge thank you to Angus Hemsworth for all of his work with the Econo Lumber Super League and to ECONO LUMBER for their generous sponsorship of the league. We look forward to next year. |

The 2009 Provincial bonspiel was held at the Prince Albert Golf & Curling Club March 20th - 21st. The event saw 16 teams from accross the Province playing in the event. All teams played four games and really enjoyed themselves, the social aspect of the sport truly game out over the span of the event. A great job to Jacquie Wiesner and all of her people for organizing the event. GREAT JOB!!! |

The 2009 Provincial Masters wrapped up on Sunday, March 15th at the Prince Albert Golf & Curling Club. The event saw the top 12 Mens and top 11 Womens teams from accross the province playing for the Provincial title. Terry Arnold from Tisdale defeated Vic Rogers in the Championship final to take the Mens crown. On the Womens side, Lee Morrision defeated Crystal Frisk to take the Championship. Both teams will now represent Saskatchewan at the Canadian Masters at the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon, March 30th - April 5th. Good Luck to both teams. The event was a huge success for the curling club. The event saw a net profit of around $5,000. All the curlers were very happy with everything that was offered, hospitality, ice conditions, banquet with a comedian, shuttle service and the friendly atmosphere. A huge thank you must go out to the Chairperson, Laurel Robinsion and all of her committee as well as the volunteers and all the great sponsors. Without all of these people the event would not of been a success. GREAT JOB!!! The next major event for the Prince Albert Golf & Curling Club is the 2009 - 2010 Provincial Junior Mens & Womens Championships, December 27th - 30th, 2009. |

The Robyn Despins team from Carlton Comprehensive High School won the Provincial High School Mixed Championship on Saturday, March 7th. The team is made up of, Skip - Robyn Despins, Third - Steven Heidel, Second - Kaylee Roth and Lead - Sam Turner. The team went undefeated throughout the entire championships. Congratulations to Team Despins from the Prince Albert Golf & Curling Club.  |

The Deb Thierman rink from the Prince Albert Golf & Curling Club won the 2009 Senior Women's Provincial Championship on Monday, March 2nd. This is Deb's second Senior Women's title in three years and the third year in a row she has been in the Provincial Final, losing last year to Delores Syrota. Deb won the title this year by defeating Delores Syrota (last years champion) from the Wadena Curling Club to take the crown. The team will now represent Saskatchewan at the Candian Seniors in Summerside, PEI on March 22nd - 29th, 2009. The team is made up of Skip = Debbie Thierman, Third = Maxine Montgomery, Second = Debbie Cripps and Lead = Elaine McCloy. (from right to left) 
The team will be joined by Senior Men's Champions and last years National Senior Champions Eugene Hritziuk at Nationals. Good Luck to Deb and Eugene at Nationals!!! Everybody is pulling for you!!! |
