DAVE STEWART WINS SASKATCHEWAN AMATEUR
The News
Monday, 28 July 2008

Prince Albert Golf & Curling Club Member David Stewart captured his first Saskatchewan Amateur Championship on Friday July 25th at the Royal Regina Golf Club. David finished the shortened tournament at even par (216) after three rounds, that score was good to win by one stroke. The tournament is normally three rounds and then cut to the low 20 for the fourth day. The officials had to cancel the second round due to heavy rainfall so the cut was made after two rounds. David finished in second place at last years championship which was held here at the Cooke Municipal Golf Course, behind his father Ron.  Ron also competed in this years championship but came up a little short with a two round total of 158, other PA players were Gregory Swenson (163), and Clint Rislling (164).

David will now captain the three other Saskathewan team members at the National Amateur Championship being held at the Paradise Canyon Golf Resort in Lethbridge, AB, August 10th - 14th.  All four will represent our Province.

Congratulations to David and good luck at nationals as you try to bring home another championship. We all wish you good luck!!!
