Two members from the Prince Albert Golf & Curling Club recently competed at the 2008 National Mid - Amateur Championships which were held at the Pheasant Glen Golf Resort in Qualicum Beach, BC on August 19th to 22nd. Martin Ring of Prince Albert finished in a tie for 47th place with a four round score of +19 (307), with rounds of 80,77,74,76. The other Prince Albert player competing in the tournament was Clint Rissling. Clint missed the two round cut and after two rounds had a score of 167 (+23). Great job to both Martin and Clint on representing our club and city very well.!! Another well know name around the Prince Albert Golf & Curling Club, Colin Coben was also competing at the event. Colin finished the tournament in a tie for 15th place with a four round score of +11 (299) with rounds of 78,74,74,73. Great job Colin!! The Cooke Municipal Golf Course will be hosting next years National Mid - Amateur Championships on August 15th to 20th, 2009. We look forward to next years National Championship. This will be the 5th National Championship for the Cooke Municipal Golf Course. |

The 2008 edition of the Boyd Agencies City Junior Championships wrapped up on Thursday at the Cooke Municipal Golf Course. This years tournament had 33 entries. The tournament is the only match play tournament of the year for the juniors at Cooke. In the Championship flight, Wyatt Newman defeated Justin Paradis to win the tournament. On the Consolation side, Travis Jenkins defeated Matt Cantin to claim the Consolation side of the Championship flight. Congratulations Wyatt!! Job well done!! Great job to all the organizers and players on a great tournament. We look forward to next years. David Stewart of Cooke Municipal Golf Course recently competed at the 2008 National Men's Amateur Championships, which wrapped up on Thursday, August 14th at the Paradyse Canyon Golf Resort in Lethbridge, AB. David, who works in the pro shop at the Cooke Municipal Golf Course was the only Saskatchewan player to make the 36 hole cut at the tournament. This was the first year of the championships going to a 72 hole stroke play event rather than a match play format for the top 64 golfers after 36 holes of qualifying. David had rounds of 78 and 69 on the first two days. Dave then went on to have rounds of 71 and a sizziling 66 on the last day, low round of the day. With a four round score of even par 284, Dave finished in a tie for 14th place. What a great showing!!! On behalf of the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club, Congratulations Dave on a job well done.!!!! |

The 2008 edition of the Junior Men's & Women's Lobstick wrapped up on Friday August 15th at the Waskesiu Golf Course. The Cooke Municipal golf course had 25 boys and 3 girls competing in this years event. What a great turnout of Prince Albert Juniors!!!! Danny Klughart, who works at Cooke Municipal Golf Course won the Championship Flight Consolation side by defeating Taylor Afseth of Saskatoon. Great job to Danny and all of the players who represented our club and city very well. Here are the results of the flight winners from Prince Albert: Champ Flight Consolation Winner= Danny Klughart 7th Flight Winner = Brody McDowell Next up is the Boyd Agencies City Junior Championships starting Monday August 18th. |
