RUSS HOWARD LEADS A STRONG FIELD FOR NATIONALS

The field is set for the upcoming Canadian Seniors which is set to begin in two weeks. Russ Howard, an oylmpic gold medalist leads the field for the event. Here is a list of teams for the event

PRINCE ALBERT RINK CAPTURES PROVINCIAL ELKS TITLE

The Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club is home to another Provincial Champion. Dwight Desormeau rink of Blayne Nelson, Michelle Hudon, and Earl Henderson have captured the 2008 Provincial Elks Championship. The team will now compete at the National Championships begining March 17th in North Bay, Ontario. Congratulations on the victory and good luck at Nationals guys!!!!!
 
2ND EARLY BIRD PRIZES ANNOUNCED IN 40TH ANNIVESARY DRAW

The second group of early bird prizes for the golf and curling clubs 40th annivesary draw were made on Monday March 3rd. The winners included:

 Denise Williams and Terry Schreiner who each won a VIP stay and play package for four people at the Candle Lake Golf Resort.

Mike Kopchynski and Peg Reinhardt who each won a $350 gift card from Danny's Pro Shop / Cooke Municipal Golf Course.

Christian Hudon won a set of taylor made irons, a bag, putter and sandwedge all courtesy of Danny's golf shop.

Congratulations to all winners!!!!

The next round of early bird prizes are on March 31st, the prizes are the same as February with the exception of a 42" T.V. replacing the set of clubs.

You can still purchase tickets at the club office or by phoning 765 - 5203. Tickets are $20

The main draw of $11,000 in cash prizes will be drawn the night of the Spring Fling, which is April 18th.

70TH ANNUAL LADIES BONSPIEL WRAPS UP

The 2008 edition of Ladies Open wrapped up on Sunday March 2nd. This years event was the 70th edition of the annual bonspiel. The ladies decided to include a mixed division to the event to attaract more teams. There were 12 ladies teams and 4 mixed teams for the event. The teams played a round robin format of 3 games and then the top 2 teams from each pool played for the four trophies. The Pool A Jovin Homes trophy went to the Elaine Tasa team, the Pool B South Hill Inn trophy went to the Donna Campbell team, the Pool C Conexus credit union trophy went to the Linda Bjork team, and the Pool D Kleen Bee trophy went to the Merv Wiesner team. Congratulations to the winners and to all who played. Good job to Winnie Rindal and her team for organizing the event.
 
GOLF AND CURLING CLUB PURCHASE AED DEVICE

The Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club have installed a AED unit for the patrons of our facility. The unit was purchased with the donations from many different clubs. The P.A. Ladies curling club, Cosmo's, United Commercial Travellers, P.A. Senior men's golf club, and the P.A. senior men's curling club. These groups all donated funds to purchase the unit. The Golf and Curling Club thanks these groups and all the people assocaited with the clubs for the generous donations. Hopefully we do not have to use the unit, but we have it in case we do, it could save a life.

NATIONAL SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS UNDER A MONTH AWAY

The 2008 Canadian Seniors in under one month away from the start of competition. The organizing committee has been preparing since the start of curling season. Things are coming together and the home stretch is underway. The week will be filled with great competition. You can still purchase week passes for $40 from the curling office, as well as day passes for $10.

We will start selling progressive 50 / 50 tickets as well, these can be purchased from any host committee member and at the curling office.

 
SUPER LEAGUE CHAMPION DETERMINED

The 2008 Econo Lumber Super League champion was determined on Saturday February 23rd. Team Bobby Costain defeated Team Cliff McBeath in the final. In the semi finals McBeath defeated England while Costain defeated Despins.

On the Consolation side, Team Swiderski defeated Team Rindal.

Great job to all teams for a successful season and we look forward to some great competition next year!!!!
