The 2008 Scotties is coming to Regina February 16th - 24th. The Scotties tournament of hearts and curling clubs in Saskatchewan are working together to get tickets to members. If any member is going to get tickets for the event we ask that you purchase the tickets through James at the curling office. When we sell so many tickets for the Scotties the club gets 2 ticket packages to do what we want with them, raffle them, have a random draw or whatever. Make sure to contact James if you are purchasing 2008 Scotties tickets. |

Rider pride took over in the annual men's cash spiel held this weekend at the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club. This years event saw 25 teams compete for the top prize of $2,800. The field included some top notch curlers in our province including former provincial men's champion Gerald Shymko from Yorkton, former world junior champion Jamie Schneider, Al Schick, Carl De Coninck Smith, Ian Mayoh fresh off his competition at the Canadian Mixed, and many others. The event kicked off Friday with two draws and continued through the weekend. Saturday afternoon saw the 3 "A" qualifying games. In those games Wayne Diakow of Prince Albert defeated De - Coninck Smith, Corey Martens defeated Ian Mayoh, and Glenn Heitt defeated Darren Engel. Saturday evening saw the 3 " B" qualifying games and the 2 "C" qualifying games. In those games Jamie Schneider defeated Bryan Rindal, Mike Vereshagin defeated Kyle George, and Al Schick defeated Matt Ryback. In the "C" event Darren Engel defeated Donn Goertz, and Carl De - Coninck Smith defeated Corey Spanier. Sunday kicked off with the four quarter finals. Advancing to the semi finals were Jamie Schneider defeating Wayne Diakow, Darren Engel defeating Corey Martens, Carl DeConinck Smith defeating Glenn Heitt, and Al Shick defeating Mike Vereshagin. In the semi finals Jamie Schneider defeated Darren Engel and Carl De Coninck Smith defeated Al Shick which set up a great final. The final was set and DeConinck Smith and Schneider were the two teams set to play for the $2,800. This is when rider pride took over and both teams decided to split the 1st and 2nd place prizes and get home to watch the beloved riders win their 3rd Grey Cup. The event went well and all teams seemed happy. Great job to Angus Hemsworth, Cliff McBeath, and Wayne Diakow for all of their work during the spiel. We look forward to next year's event. GLOW CURLING
The Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club proudly present the first ever GLOW CURLING. That is right GLOW CURLING. The lights will be off, music on, and the sheets will be lit up for this unforgetable evening. Bring your friends, co - workers, families for this special evening on Friday November 30th. There are two times available, 7:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. The cost of this evening is only $15 per person or $40 for for 4 people.

The 2007 edition of the City Open wrapped up Monday at the Cooke Municipal Golf Course. This years event saw 91 men and 13 women compete. The weekend started off with some cool and windy weather but after that the rest of the weekend was fantastic. The annual Sunday afternoon horserace was won by Travis Jenkins and Cam Bergen who defeated Shawn Strelau and Sean Nelson, finishing third was Colin Coben and Tom Ross. In the Men's Championship flight Colin Coben shot a sizzling final round of 66 to capture the tournament by 5 strokes over Martin Ring. In the LAdies Championship flight Karly Wormworth shot a final round of 79 to defeat Pauline McDougall. A thank you is in order for John Foster and everyone else who made the City Open at Cooke Municipal Golf Course another success. The 2007 edition of the Ladies Lobstick was on August 20th to 24th. Pauline McDougall of Prince Albert played well all week and eventually finished the week off with winning the Championship Flight Consolation side. Prince Albert was well represented at the Ladies Lobstick with 28 golfers playing in the annual event. The 2007 edition of the Boyd Agencies City Junior Championship was another success. The tournament saw 50 junior men and women competing. The tournament uses the match play format to determine the flight winners after the first round of qualyifing round. In the qualyifing round Scott Jenkins had the low round after shooting a 72. In the final of the Championship Flight it was a family battle as Scott played his younger brother Travis, with older brother Scott coming up on top as the winner.
