GOLF AND CURLING CLUB PURCHASE AED DEVICE

The Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club have installed a AED unit for the patrons of our facility. The unit was purchased with the donations from many different clubs. The P.A. Ladies curling club, Cosmo's, United Commercial Travellers, P.A. Senior men's golf club, and the P.A. senior men's curling club. These groups all donated funds to purchase the unit. The Golf and Curling Club thanks these groups and all the people assocaited with the clubs for the generous donations. Hopefully we do not have to use the unit, but we have it in case we do, it could save a life.

NATIONAL SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS UNDER A MONTH AWAY

The 2008 Canadian Seniors in under one month away from the start of competition. The organizing committee has been preparing since the start of curling season. Things are coming together and the home stretch is underway. The week will be filled with great competition. You can still purchase week passes for $40 from the curling office, as well as day passes for $10.

Don't miss out on the action, get your tickets today!!!!

We will start selling progressive 50 / 50 tickets as well, these can be purchased from any host committee member and at the curling office.

 
SUPER LEAGUE CHAMPION DETERMINED

The 2008 Econo Lumber Super League champion was determined on Saturday February 23rd. Team Bobby Costain defeated Team Cliff McBeath in the final. In the semi finals McBeath defeated England while Costain defeated Despins.

On the Consolation side, Team Swiderski defeated Team Rindal.

Great job to all teams for a successful season and we look forward to some great competition next year!!!!

 
ANNUAL SENIOR MEN'S OPEN RESULTS

The 2008 edition of the Senior Men's Open bonspiel saw 22 teams compete in the round robin format. The bonspiel ran Monday thru Friday.

The A event saw teams Hemstad, Lloyd, Gessner and England playing for the CKBI trophy. The final had England playing Lloyd with the Lloyd team winning.

The B event saw teams Hunt, Zbeetnoff, Garinger, and Mckeand playing for the Moker and Thompson trophy. The final had Hunt playing McKeand with the Hunt team winning.

The C event saw teams Skrudland, Wiesner, Wilkinson, and Olson playing for the Credit Union trophy. The final had Wiesner playing Olson with the Wiesner team winning.

The D event saw teams Ferguson, Fafard, Houle, and Tonita playing for the North Star trophy. The final had Fafard playing Houle with team Fafard winning.

Congratulations to all teams, and we look forward to next years event!!!

IAN MAYOH & DALE BRUCE WIN TWO PERSON TUFF SPIEL

The 2008 edition of the two person tuff spiel was a great success. This years event had 32 teams compete for the top prize of $800. The format was a true triple knockout with 8 teams qualifying for the cash prizes.

The format for the event is simple, 6 rocks ( 3 each ) and 6 ends.

This year the bonspiel also had a calcutta, the total money was $2,685 with 5 % going towards junior golf and curling. Friday evening was molson night with a couple drinks and munchies.

Qualifying out of the A event were Ian Mayoh & Dale Bruce, and Rick Graham & Don Philip

Qualifying out of the B event were Colin Coben & Sherry Anderson, and Bobby Costain & Fred Mathiason

Qualifying out of the C event were Wayne Ringdahl & Ed Fusick, Larry Ruszkowski & Don Orr, Ted Lamotte & Darren Lamotte, and Darren McDougall & Chris Hudon

Advancing from the quarter final matches were Mayoh & Bruce, Ruszkowski & Orr, Ringdahl & Fusick, and Lamotte & Lamotte. The semi finals were set. In the semi finals Mayoh and Bruce defeated Ruszkowski & Orr and Lamotte & Lamotte defeated Ringdahl & Fusick. The final was set. Team Mayoh & Bruce defeated the Lamotte's to capture the 2008 Tuff Spiel.

Payout

Mayoh & Bruce = $800

Lamotte & Lamotte = $500

Ruszkowski & Orr, and Ringdahl & Fusick = $300

McDougall & Hudon, Coben & Anderson, Costain & Mathiason, Graham & Philip = $100
